- Teams do NOT have to worry how to make snow blocks. We will make sure all teams have 15ft (Wide) by 25ft (Long) by 2ft (Thick) of dense snow for the competition. This compacted snow will be located on the "Igloo Boulevard" within the baseball field at Centennial Park. We estimate you will need some kind of hand saw to carve your blocks. The size of your blocks will be up to you but remember you have only a certain amount of snow to work with.....expire your compacted snow reserve and you will be left only with the snow on your lot to build from!
- Many teams have asked if they can have more than 4 team members. We will allow a maximum of four people on the site at any given time. For example if a team has 10 people who want to chip in on the fun during the course of the weekend......only 4 of them can work within the limits of their assigned construction lots. These areas are the 25ft by 25 ft lot size that the igloo will be built on and the 15ft by 25 ft area from the Boulevard (compacted snow).
- Igloos have to be built from snow BLOCKS to qualify! What would be the challenge in just building a mound of snow.....excavating it....and digging it out?
- Igloos must be empty inside. What we mean by this is that NO interior support of any sort is allowed. For example some have asked if they can have a pillar inside the igloo to give it extra support in the strength ratings. A short answer to this question..... NO! If built right the dome shape will give it structural strength. ;D
- NO WATER ALLOWED!!! You can drink it but you can't use it to solidify your igloo. Sorry.
See you in the Igloos!
